But let me first start with how our Friday went. When we got home after work there were already some kids in the pool, so we got on our suites and joined them! Our pool is very cold, but I knew Nicole wouldn't mind too much, and she didn't. she just swam around with her little dinosaur. It will be even better once I get her into some swimming lessons and then she can swim without the dinosaur.
Anyway, so after swimming I set up the tent and air mattress. I ordered a pizza and we just played around for the night, and took lots of pictures in the tent.
In between sessions we did a little shopping and then stopped at a new park, Cholla Lake Park. I had seen it several times before, but this was the first time Nicole and I stopped and played there. We are going to have to go again soon, it was a lot of fun, and there are ducks! If I fished then we could go fishing, but come on, everyone knows that fish are icky and smelly and slimy, so that just wont happen.
Nicole had been cranky all day, and I could definitely tell she was tired, so during the afternoon session I made her lay down and close her eyes. I am so grateful that she did sleep, the evening was much more pleasant.
After the session we meet up with our friends Noel and her son Kakoa. We played with them for a bit and then headed off to Deseret Book for Ladies night. Noel was really lucky and won a signed copy of the Pres. Monson book. It was a fun evening, but both 3 year olds were bouncing off the wall. We went and ate at California Pizza Kitchen, and then booked it back home. The natives were about to revolt!
Sunday morning a little sluggish. I was so tired from going to bed late and sleeping on the air mattress, but Nicole was having lots of fun with the tent. So after getting ready we headed off to the Center for Young Adults (the old SDSU Institute building) to catch the last 30 min of the morning session.
After the session there was a potato bar and lots of new friends for Nicole. It's hard to tell who had more fun, the YSA's or Nicole.
We really didn't do anything exciting for the rest of Sunday. I considered doing hobo dinners, but that didn't pan out with timing and bed time. All in all, I think it was a fun weekend. Of course right now Nicole has decided that she doesn't want to sleep and is playing. I suppose now I need to continue to make conference weekend indoor camping weekend. We'll see how things are in 6 months.
What fun! We have camped in our basement before and Eva just loved it!! Your little Nicole is a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThis was a tradition for my daughter and I for many, many years and we loved it. Sometimes it was in the backyard, sometimes in the living room, and sometimes in the garage with Christmas lights strung all around. Conference weekend is the only time we buy white powdered donuts for breakfast/snacking. That part of the tradition still holds now that she is a teenager.
