Summer Vacation

While this blog is about Nicole, my life has a large impact on how often I can post. With my job the last 8 months have been very hectic and stressful. Nicole and I have been very thankful for the visits from my family this year. They precense here has helped me tremendously in dealing with the stress of working full time, being a divorced mom, tranistioning an office of 60 to working at home, and getting my Nicole into Kindergarten. With all of the stress I've worked very hard and keeping things fun for Nicole, especially during the summer. Here are some of the fun things we did this summer.

We kicked off the summer by going to a Padres game. The great thing about Petco Park is the little baseball field they have. Nicole loves hitting the ball and running the bases. I love watching her.

Tuesdays at Balboa Park are local free museum days. The free museums alternate every week. I want to do another post about  the Grossology exhibit in the Reuben H Fleet Science Museam that we went to, but we did have fun in the fountain outside the museum. I know it's not a swimming pool but water is wet, however it comes. Nicole had so much fun playing in the fountain and staying true to herself, made a new friend. It was so much fun for me to watch her play around.

And now, our Vegas trip!! Of course we had to do a Vegas trip. We flew to Vegas and spent a few days with my family before going up to a family reunion. Lately Nicole has shown an interest in flying and how things fly. Well, who better to ask then her Uncle Woogie? No, Woogie is not his name. Yes, Woogie is the name him and his family have given themselves because of difficult last name. Anyway, Dustin flies for a plane company that goes to the Grand Canyon. If you want a product plug talk to Charlotte. Anyway, since we have the hook up for the planes, thanks Dustin! Nicole was able to get a nice tour. Alex and Nicole had lots of fun playing pilot, faking lifting the plane, watching take offs and landings, and seeing a helicopter.

Besides our little Boulder City tour Nicole was also able to have a sleepover with her other cousins, my brother's family. I don't know what they did, but Nicole came back having had a fantastic time. She is always asking about Justin and Dylan and when she can see them. Nicole does love her Uncles, Aunts, and all of her cousins. I only wish we could see them more often.

The Annual Anderson Family Reunion. It has been 7 years since I've been to one of these and just as long since I've been to Idaho. Growing up I went every summer to work on the Grandparent's farm. I loved it. Not the hoeing the fields, but the freedom being on a farm/ranch gives you. In the city you never get to experience it. I wanted Nicole to do anything she wanted. She loves horses, so I made sure to encourage her to ask about riding them. The first day she rode by herself and her second cousin was so patient and nice enough to walk her around. She loved it and I am so glad she was able to do that. The second day we rode a horse together and even had baby Ethan (another nephew of mine) join us on the saddle for a minute. The next time we go Nicole will be big enough to ride a horse, and stear, all by herself.

The 4 wheelers are also very popular at the reunions. I though Nicole would like it and enjoy a little wind, but she insisted I go slower everytime I got up to 10 mph. We had a nice ride together.

And the end to our summer was getting ready for the very first day of Kindergarten.
My little baby started Kindergarten onThursday. On Friday Nicole told me that she didn't like Kindergarten because they didn't have nap time. Yeah, that was a laugh. This coming from a girl who fits taking a nap or going to sleep with all her might. School definately left her very tired at the end of the day.
To celebrate starting school Nicole and I went out to eat. She picked Mexican and we had a great time. I know Nicole is so excited about being in school.
