Beach Babe

Scott's Granpa has been in the hospital after a major surgery for awhile and he gets to go home on Tues. Well, he has a machine that needs constant attention in order to maintain life, so before being discharged Granma and Mother in law wanted to do a few "dry runs" Makes snese to me. Yesterday we had the second dry run and a fun little picnic at Mission Bay. The whole picnic thing went well, but it's what happened before Granpa and them showed up that leads me to this post.

While waiting Nicole and I went down to the water to help pass the time and keep Nicole from getting too bored. That's just bad when she gets bored. We were walking in the surf, just enjoying the fact that Bay water is way warmer than beach water. Nicole thought the whole thing was just great and got rather upset when I pulled her away. Needless to say Nicole insisted we head back to the water, which we did. This time on our walk in the surf Nicole noticed a nice big green pinecone. Yeah! Perfect for picking up and throwing. By this point Nicole already has a wet dress, so what the heck. It's not worth the fight of keeping her out of the water, and she's having fun.

At one point Nicole falls on her bum. I quickly pick her back up and then she, realizing that playing is much more fun when you can sit, walked a few steps and plopped down again. Yeah, she's having a ball right now. Nicole continued to play in the water, pick up handfuls of dirt while asking "what's this?" and enjoying putting the said dirt on her dress.

Yeah, did you already catch that Nicole is in nothing swim related? She's in a play dress and a regular diaper. She's having so much fun that she even decides she needs to turn around. As she laughs and turns a circle on her bum I can only think of the fun we will have with the diaper change.

After dragging Nicole out of the water, which is pretty difficult when you are trying not to get soaked in the process, especially when the child wants to be held close, she realized that it's kinda cold. We had to do a quick strip of clothes and change of diaper so Nicole's granma could take her to get a coat.

All in all it was fun. Scott and I really need to take regular trips to the beach for our little girl. She is quite the beach bum.

Here are some photos of Nicole at the beach about 6 months ago. Now keep in mind that this is the actual beach, and the water is very chilly!

Sorry, I can't get this to flip.

  1. Ethan is like that also, he loves the water even if it's cold, it doesn't phase him at all.
